How to Help a Loved One Die into Life

Conscious and Enlightened Ways to Assist a Loved One in the Process of Dying into Life

  1. Ask if there is anything they want to talk about.
  2. Focus on that and them. Have no agenda.
  3. Help them be assured that their family member(s) will be all right.
  4. Deal with your own issues around death and dying so that you can truly be present for your loved one.
  5. Support them in coming to peace with their life and relationships. Affirm their essential nature/goodness as a child of God.
  6. To be human is to be spiritual, for it's as natural as having a pancreas. It just is. You can ignore it, but it"s still there. Honor this aspect of the process, not in a heavy, ominous religious way - but in light, love and joy.
  7. Follow your heart in this incredible life adventure – it truly knows the way.
  8. As long as your loved one is alive, their quality of life is paramount.
  9. Be with your loved one when your heart and soul truly wants to be there, and you will resonate together in a joyous rhapsody. They will know!
  10. Relax and let love, joy and laughter guide this time. When we truly love there are no tentacles, no hooks, just a freeing love. Practice releasing them into the mystery with unconditional love.
  11. Death is not a medical condition. It is a rite of passage, a sacred rite of passage. (Interesting note: The derivation of the word Hospice means re-birth.)

"Loving and releasing may seem to be a dichotomy, yet when you truly love, there are no tentacles, no hooks, only a freeing love.”
